About Us
Restoring the Sacred in the Domestic Church
"Beauty is the vocation of the artist. It is the duty of the artist to reflect the light of the mystery." — St. John Paul II
At St. Dominic Press, we operate at the intersection of theology, history, and fine art. We are not merely a print shop; we are a boutique publishing house dedicated to preserving the rich visual patrimony of the Christian faith and making it accessible to the modern home.
Why St. Dominic?
Our press is named after Saint Dominic de Guzmán, the founder of the Order of Preachers. His life was dedicated to Veritas — Truth. Just as St. Dominic preached the truth of the Gospel through word and deed, we believe that beauty is a form of preaching.
In a world often filled with noise and distraction, a single, powerful image of sacred art has the power to silence a room and lift the soul to God. Our mission is to place these "visual sermons" on your walls, turning your living spaces into sanctuaries of prayer and contemplation.
The Atelier in Ptuj
Our studio is located in Ptuj, Slovenia, one of the oldest cities in Central Europe, steeped in Roman history and Christian tradition. Surrounded by the architecture of the old continent, we draw inspiration from the craftsmen of the past who built cathedrals not for their own glory, but for the glory of God.
Every print that leaves our atelier is:
-
Curated: Selected for its theological depth and artistic merit.
-
Crafted: Printed on world-renowned Hahnemühle archival papers and canvases.
-
Certified: Entered into our official registry to ensure provenance for future generations.
Built for Generations
We use the term "Archival Quality" not as a buzzword, but as a promise. The materials we use are designed to last over 100 years without fading. When you purchase a piece from St. Dominic Press, you are not buying temporary decoration; you are acquiring a family heirloom that can be passed down to your children and grandchildren, carrying with it the faith it represents.
The Future: A Library for Little Souls
While our foundation is built on fine art prints, our vision extends further. We are currently developing a series of theologically rich children's books, designed to nourish the imagination of the youngest members of the Church. We believe that if we surround our children with beauty and truth from the very beginning, we build a foundation that lasts a lifetime.
